Determined to strip their sound back, the band found inspiration in their hometown of Southampton and it's melancholic history. Written as a soundtrack to late night drives through the New Forest and sunrise at the docks, 'Star Tiger Star Ariel' truly reflects the bands depth, ambition and integrity.Brothers Greg and Aaron Gilbert, alongside Colin Fox on bass guitar and Rowly on drums, recorded the album at Rockfield Studios in Monmouth (Queen, Stone Roses) with Duncan Lewis who produced their first hit album.

The May 10th, 2010 release of La La Land on Absolutely Kosher Records in the UK & Europe coincides with Wax FangТs invitation by Pavement to play the All TomorrowТs Parties festival. However it is not the UKТs first taste of Wax Fang. The BBCТs 'IntroducingТ feature heralded La La Land as a 'progressive but poppy album', this was the result of Huw StephenТs discovery of Wax Fang at SXSW. After being mesmerized by Wax FangТs wall of sound on stage, the BBC DJ interviewed Wax Fang for his Radio 1 show where he proclaimed Wax Fang to be one of the best live bands at SXSW. Inspired by a meeting with Colin Wilson, author of 'The Outsider’, Jim hasn’t reinvented the wheel with debut single from forthcoming album 'Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea’, but what he has created is a solid, shimmering, summery, hook laden hit that’ll rest on your ears like a feathery pillow.B-side 'Birthrights’ actually seems to exercise Jim’s Bowie-esque vocals far more effectively, but its 'One Sees The Sun’ which has the commercial prowess which will see Jim become a familiar face this summer with faultless jangly 90’s pop like this.

Each album was well represented

Each album was well represented with 'City Hall’ and title track 'Post Electric’ just two of the tracks to be played from the new album, along with 'When I Argue I See Shapes’ and 'I’m A Message’ from their debut record. With setlists always fluctuating, an Idlewild gig is an exciting yet safe prospect. Exciting to the true fan who awaits his favourite album song to be played, and safe in that you know each track will always be performed flawlessly and with the upmost energy.A four strong encore of 'Readers And Writers’, 'American English’, 'You Held The World In Your Arms’ and the delightful 'In Remote Part/Scottish Fiction’ capped off a sublime gig in convincing style. Rod revealed that it might be some wait for a new album, with solo projects likely, however with the choice of setlist last night at the Forum, it was a fitting and superb way to say goodbye in the meantime..
